The University of Houston-Clear Lake’s School of Business moved its Healthcare Administration program to the Texas Medical Center (TMC), the largest medical center in the world, in 2006. Among the 49 member institutions are 25 government agencies, 24 private not-for-profit health institutions, 21 academic institutions, 14 hospitals, 3 medical schools, and 6 nursing schools. Our Healthcare Administration students have opportunities to meet and learn from the leaders of these institutions – many of whom are our alumni.

Our graduate Healthcare Administration program is one of only 72 schools in the U.S. accredited by the Commission on Accreditation Healthcare Management Education (CAHME), an organization devoted to accountability and quality improvement in the education of healthcare professionals. We are one of only two CAHME accredited MHA/MBA programs in Texas. Our MBA program is AACSB accredited.

Program Description

Our Healthcare Administration program is designed to prepare students to assume administrative responsibility in healthcare institutions in both the public and private sectors. The academic curriculum is rigorous with numerous field projects and experiences, extensive student activities and classes in healthcare as well as business. Many of the courses are web-supported. In the past 10 years several of our graduate students have been placed in residencies in nationally recognized medical centers such as Memorial-Hermann Healthcare System, St. Luke’s Healthcare System, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Shriner’s Childrens Hospital, Michael A. DeBakey VA Medical Center and several other facilities throughout the nation.

The dual-degree MHA/MBA program at UH-Clear Lake is designed for health care managers and clinicians who require enhanced business competencies in order to achieve their career goals. Our curriculum provides students with the tools to function in a health care system increasingly driven by business principles. Our graduates will have the knowledge and skills for significant professional advancement in a wide range of health-related settings. Our program maintains high academic quality, while providing flexible and convenient options both in the classroom and online.  The University of Houston Clear Lake MHA is an excellent degree.

Through this dual-degree program, students can obtain both degrees in as few as 57 credit hours, rather than the 78 credit hours required for both degrees individually.
