General University Information

The University of Oklahoma (OU) is a coeducational public research university located in Norman, Oklahoma. Founded in 1890, it existed in Oklahoma Territory near Indian Territory for 17 years before the two became the state of Oklahoma. As of 2007 the university had 29,931 students enrolled, most located at its main campus in Norman. Employing nearly 3,000 faculty members, the school offers 152 baccalaureate programs, 160 master’s programs, 75 doctorate programs, and 20 majors at the first professional level.

Program Description

The MHA is a 60 credit hour program that prepares the graduate for a career as a senior administrator of a health service organization. All students are required to complete an internship and a defense of the internship report.  The MHA Program is accredited by CEPH and the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).  Following graduation, most of our students are placed in a fellowship, a post graduate activity that enables the individual to gain administrative experience.

Admission Requirements

Successful applicants for admission must hold a bachelor’s degree awarded by an accredited institution with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a four point scale for the last 60 hours of undergraduate credit.
Applicants with a grade point average of less than 3.5 may be required to complete the GRE or GMAT. All applicants must submit three letters of recommendation and official transcripts from all schools they have attended. Applicants with a graduate degree may waive the GRE or GMAT requirement.
